Watch: P-DfMA in Action: How platforms transform buildings from homes to hospitals
And that idea worked!
Several sources suggested you bring wainscoting up the wall 32-36 inches, but ours will go up 42, cause I just think it looks better.. You can see I have a lot of work to do with the white paint still. It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow, so that should make for a good painting day.
Those railings take forever!.This pillar was already here, but I love it, so it’s going to stay just the same. It’s pretty small in this hall so there isn’t much room for a table or bench.
This pillar gives me somewhere to put some flowers or whatever I think is seasonally necessary, decorating-wise.. That’s what we’ve got so far!Up next, more white paint, installing the wainscotting, and then choosing some sort of contrasting color for the top half of the walls. The other night I needed a little pick-me-up.
I was thinking about different decorating projects I could do, but then reminding myself that I need to tackle the bigger stuff first (which I have been, believe-you-me), but then feeling like I just wish I could be “done” one little room so I could actually just play around in it, but then realizing that it was going to take a little while and not to waste my time creating a bunch of decorations that just aren’t going to work in the final room anyway.. It’s a noisy place inside my head..
So then I came across this idea on Pinterest. You know, back when I wasn’t 30 seconds away from bringing new life into the world while being obsessed with painting every surface I can get my hands on.
I was coming up with all of these fun little ideas all over the place that were taking almost no effort at all, but really helped to bring that whole homemade Christmas feel to the house. It was a good time!.
Although I don’t have many Christmas decorations up yet this year, I know that those trees will look so much better against freshly-painted walls when (if?)we eventually get them up..
